Art that refuses to stay quiet
Behind the work
A vision rooted in culture
Some artists find their calling. I never had to look. Creating has always been part of who I am. In 2019, what had been a lifelong hobby became something more deliberate. A practice. A purpose. I am a Nigerian artist who attended Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and I create under the name 4ideben (4ID Art). Everything I make is rooted in African soil and driven by a singular mission: to make Black identity visible, celebrated, and impossible to ignore.
A life shaped by looking
Every piece I create begins with a question. What happens when we place ourselves inside the stories that shaped the world? From Monisola, a Yoruba reimagining of the Mona Lisa, to The Black Shepherd, where biblical tradition meets African pastoral heritage, to Star Gazing, a meditation on gravity, escape and the longing to float free. My work sits at the intersection of culture, spirituality and Afrofuturist surrealism. These are not just art prints. They are acts of reclamation.
I work in digital illustration, drawing on influences that stretch from Leonardo da Vinci to the rich visual traditions of West African culture. Each piece is rendered in vivid, moody color, emotional, layered, and designed to stop you mid-scroll and hold you there. When a piece is ready, it is printed on fine art poly-cotton canvas, hand-stretched over kiln-dried premium pine frames, and roll varnished for a lifetime of protection. Every print leaves carrying a story worth hanging on your wall.
Representation doesn't end at the screen. It belongs on walls, in living rooms, bedrooms, offices, and spaces where people begin and end their days. When you hang a 4ideben print in your home, you are not just decorating a space. You are making a statement about whose beauty deserves to be celebrated. Whose stories deserve to be told. Whose faces belong in the frame.
Every Medium. One Vision.
